What is an adaptive traffic signal (iVRI / C-ITS)?
An adaptive traffic signal adjusts its timings to the traffic detected in real time instead of following a fixed plan. An iVRI, the Dutch name for an intelligent traffic signal controller, or a C-ITS controller can also exchange data with vehicles and give priority to public transport, emergency services and cyclists.
What does a traffic control centre do?
A traffic control centre brings together data from cameras, detection loops and sensors on one platform, so that operators can monitor the network, steer signals and signs, and manage incidents together with the emergency services.
What are DRIP and VMS signs?
DRIP (dynamic route information panel) and VMS (variable message sign) are road signs that show changing information such as travel times, diversions or warnings. We integrate them and control them from the central system.
